Johanna K. Schneider, 61, died unexpectedly October 23, 2018 at the home of her sister in Whitestown, Indiana. Born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, May 15, 1957, Johanna was the daughter of Howard K. and Mary F. (Snyder) Schneider. Johanna was a 1975 Graduate of Wayne High School and graduated from Purdue University.
In her professional life Johanna worked for Allen County Board of Health, Allen County Cardiology, and, for the past 27 years she worked for the Cook Organization in West Lafayette, Indiana at Cook Research Incorporated in the Clinical Research Department.
She loved traveling, especially to the U.P. of Michigan (specifically Neebish Island and Mackinac Island), the Oregon Coast, New Orleans, Hawaii, and British Columbia. She was an avid supporter of Purdue’s football and basket ball teams and a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan.
She supported justice for all people, and challenged those who knew her to be kind to one another and to be the voice of those long silenced. She loved her family and friends, NPR, penguins, Lighthouses, Jimmy Buffet, John Denver, and seeing every performance of “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” possible.
She was a member of Saint Thomas Aquinas in West Lafayette, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and on RCIA teams, and was a former member of First Presbyterian Church, Fort Wayne, Indiana. The Thursday before her death she completed her role serving on a Grand Jury for 18 months with the U.S. District Court in Hammond, Indiana.
Johanna was also an Organ Donor, and we are grateful that with her life she is able to give life to others. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
