We lost another wonderful leader, teacher and friend, Barbara Beattie.
I had MANY great teachers through the years but Mrs. Beattie was THAT teacher, and so much more, for me!
As my Art teacher, she taught me the history, techniques and the skills of Art! But she also became a friend. She listened and was supportive during my difficult teenage years! She taught me how to use Art... as my therapy, my outlet, my escape! And, I still do, to this day!
She and I clicked. She “got” me, even as a teenager. We kept in contact for several years after I graduated, and after she moved to Park Tudor to teach. We talked regularly. We took art and calligraphy classes together. We exchanged Christmas cards, but eventually lost touch.
I often wonder how she has been and ironically, “looked” for her a couple weeks ago when we went to a VEX competition at Park Tudor because it sparked those memories. I wish I would have tried harder to find her the last several years! This makes me so sad!
I wish she knew the impact she had on my life! And I still though of her, and her family often!
My condolences to Mr Beattie, Todd and Heather.
